Home PageSet in the magnificent town of Bakewell in the heart of The Peak District National Park, the Rutland Arms Hotel offers a hint of Georgian elegance in unrivalled surroundings. Built for the Duke of Rutland in 1804, today the building exudes a unique character with a warm, friendly atmosphere and the traditional charm reminiscent of that era. Lying equidistant from Matlock and Buxton and on the edge of the Chatsworth Estate, Bakewell is surrounded by spectacular countryside yet is easily accessible by road, rail and car. Ironically, with a past firmly intertwined with that of both Chatsworth and Haddon Hall, this thriving market town is now most famous for the Bakewell Pudding which originated here in the kitchens of the Rutland Arms. Most important to guests is the quality of the food. Dean Sweeting, our accomplished, successful and mature Head Chef, gained his broad based experience from working at Monk Fryston, North Yorkshire, Ringwood Hall, Chesterfield and East Lodge, Rowsley. Consequently the menu at The Square Restaurant at the Rutland Arms continues to remain impressive in quality, style and presentation. Of the 35 individually styled bedrooms, it is believed that Jane Austen stayed in room number two whilst visiting Chatsworth and revising the final chapters of her novel Pride and Prejudice. If you enjoy fishing, walking or simply sightseeing, we look forward to welcoming you to the Rutland Arms Hotel. |
